When Captions Fail

My first blog post this year was captioned 'Into the unknown'. As the name suggests, we were entering into a year that no human being knew what was ahead in the year except God and who He decided to show coming events to. I knew anything was possible in this year but I Hoped and prayed only pleasant things would come up( don't we all?).

Well, in this year a beloved relative passed away. I took solace in the fact that he had lived a healthy life and strived to leave a good legacy behind.
Then this week a terribly heartbreaking news rocked a dear friend of mine that has left me shaken. I find it amazing how I usually can go and on but when the emotions are stirred up, words fail. What do you tell someone who has lost a loved one full of life at such a young age? It is well seems not the best thing to say. Sigh.

And this was definitely unknown. So you ask yourself, did God know? Why didn't He stop it? And unless He gives you one on one closure, you would never get to know until you probably meet Him someday.
But what we do know is that He has given us the strength to take what came our way one day at a time, and this is something not every one has been able to do.

And we know that if some bad news can hit us, some good news can as well hit us . And so we would not give up in this life. As short a time as some people lived, they left lasting memories and touched more hearts than people who lived a hundred years could.
And as little as the time is to the year's end, we know that God can do exceedingly, abundantly , above all we could ask or think.
Not all things are good, but God can make all things work out for our good.
Only God Remains.

A god’s election.

All the houses that led to the Kansie shrine had no aluminum roofing. The first thing you noticed at the premises were the skull of donkeys in the rocks that housed the shrine. The skulls were kept buried because whenever it was left in the sun, the entire village suffered migraines. Everyone who entered the shrine had to be topless. No one ever returned from Kansie still bearing whatever issue had caused them to enter into it in the first place. This was where recognized fetish priests sought fortification from; and where they directed important people to seek help when they knew they could not handle the situation they brought with them. One had to be parsimonious and ready to do as was directed, because when the gods decided on what sacrifice they wanted, no appeal was heard. The national election was in two weeks and Fynn Aggrey was contesting. This was his second time running and although six others had picked up nomination forms, it was a clear contest between Fynn and Nii A...

I want to be like you..,sure?

Just before he entered University of Ghana he was involved in an accident so had to move around with the aid of crutches. During that time, there was intermittent supply of water, meaning he needed to go fetch some for use. His cousin who had been helping him throughout his registration had left after he got his room and bed.  Now there he was, standing in front of the hall, with a bucket by his side, metals in his legs, P.O.P around them and holding his crutches; feeling extremely depressed wondering how he was supposed to function in school without any help; asking himself if he should have just stayed home. But right there, he saw another student walking towards the hall, a visually impaired student, tapping the ground with his cain as he made his way slowly into the hall. He said that was the last time he allowed himself to ever get depressed about whatever situation he found himself in, because as bad as he felt his present situation was, he had so many other things going on ...

A FAMILY AFFAIR

KenaKrom was a small fishing village, which lacked any vibrant form of modern entertainment, the old folks were left to telling stories to their grandchildren at sunset to keep them entertained. The young adults gathered in the town square to listen to the men play drums while the females danced. The highlight of the people’s year was when they celebrated their festival. They watched as the chief priest performed various strange acts while the best drummers played to urge him on. After the festival he chose the most handsome looking young boy in the village to be taught by him and train him as a future priest. This year, rather surprisingly the gods had chosen who the villagers agreed was the most unintelligent child. Kenakrom’s richest family was the Nyarko-Ansah family. The Nyarko-Ansah family was not only the richest but the largest, and more than half of the people of this small village traced their lineage to this family’s ancestry. The village kingmakers came from that family, ...
