Remembrance

Not surprisingly, we find God telling us in His word to Remember. A few minutes of living in a certain state and we make it our reality, conveniently forgetting that which was previously. While this has its positives, such as being able to let go of certain emotions that tend to hinge us in our capacity to live a life free from pain caused by the actions of some individuals, this can also when unchecked cause us to exhibit ingratitude and carelessness in our daily lives, to the extent of seeming, for want of a better word, stupid. Most times as soon as we get into a situation too difficult for us,we find ourselves cast down and miserable, because of this trait of forgetfulness which makes us not remember our God who was with us in our season of light. Similarly we sometimes repeat cycles in our lives because as soon as God delivers us from a certain situation, we forget what the experience was like in that period and then embrace that same beginning which put us in trouble. It is not s...

Twists

Michelle walked beside the main street towards the path that led down to her house. Two little boys raced past her, with a woman shouting behind them to be careful they weren't run over by cars.Young boys, who were going to grow up to become men. Men.Michelle suddenly laughed out loud, and suddenly looked to see if anyone was watching her. Men amused M ichelle. Just a month ago,she had been a teenager,so sure men were totally tough, without a bone of weakness. But just a month into womanhood, and personal events in her life were making her rescind her decision about men.Of course she didn't know a lot of men,but she knew quite a few.And many of them were funny to her.Although they will never know this. Top on her mind was Kwasi. Her cousin Emefa's boyfriend. Kwasi was the most popular boy on campus, and had been quite a playboy before meeting Emefa. He had joined their church choir immediately he found out Emefa was in the choir, much to the chagrin of the choir direct...

God Sized

Psalm 27:10 reads :When my mother or father forsakes me,the Lord will take me up.KJV Sometimes we go through moments that we really need people to be there for us,but in those moments we realise how alone we are. People who we assumed would surely be there, would be nowhere to be found. For some of us,its not mother or father as in this verse, but a friend,a lover who turned their backs on us at our greatest moments of need.Who in the moments when their little demonstration of love would have made the biggest difference, they showed us none And for some of us their backs are still turned to us,but be reminded of the other words in this verse, The Lord Himself will take care of you.He will step in and do what nobody else can or will do.For some you probably are saying then why hasn't he: Yet just know He has always been with you, else you wouldn't even be alive. You may not have things as you wanted, but our God is a big sized God,and in His right moment for you,you would receive...

Heads Up Sister

Once you are living on Earth, there will be situations that would try to mess you up. What you should know, understand and remember is that you are not the only one going through that situation, neither are you the first to have ever gone through such, nor will you be the last person to go through same. Well maybe you will be, but only if the world is coming to an end in the next second. However, how you handle what you go through would determine how the situation pans out for you, and whether you are going to be labelled as one of those who were able to overcome or who were defeated by that situation. You may not have decided what happened to you, but you get to decide how it ends for you. As it’s said, long as the lion doesn’t learn how to write, the tale would be told to glorify the hunter. One of my favourite quotes: In writing the story of your life, let no man hold the pen, should be a guide to you. Determine who you allow into your life and who you keep. If you allo...

Cut

You were from a lecture, deep in thought, wondering what the lecturer, a historian from Russia, with that thick accent you could barely hear had been talking about. You couldn’t drop the class, because the only option would be a language course from a different country, and frankly you weren’t even too sure if you were well vest in English. You didn’t notice him till you bumped into him “I’m so sorry” you said, looking up to see who it was “No worries Efiba, you look worried, hope you’re good” “I’m goo...” You stopped short when you realised he had mentioned your name, ‘how do you know my name” “I live close to you, my name is Nana Sei” “Nice meeting you, have to run” you said and hurried off. He hadn’t really told you exactly how he knew your name, but that was the least of your worries. There was just something about him you couldn’t explain. Like the fact that his smile seemed not to reach his eyes, something cold that made you almost shiver, that made you want to get...

Cum Multum Datum

Having more is not a guarantee that you would do much better.Lots of people have convinced themselves that the reason they are at a certain place or position in life is because of the size of what they possess. Some women believe their boyfriend would not have left them if they had much bigger breasts, wider hips, were much better dancers, were less vocal etc. Some men believe they would have won that woman if they had more money,a bigger car, more muscles.. The point is you can convince yourself that you are not better suited because your toes are more crooked than the one who took your boyfriend but later you would realise the person simply left because he was an idiot. Granted,to whom much is given, much more is expected, but your mistake would be to calculate your harvest by measuring it to someone else's seed. You are qualified enough, pretty enough, intelligent enough to succeed. You just have to begin. In this Newyear, cast off every weight that pulls you back as the bible says,a...

A FAMILY AFFAIR

KenaKrom was a small fishing village, which lacked any vibrant form of modern entertainment, the old folks were left to telling stories to their grandchildren at sunset to keep them entertained. The young adults gathered in the town square to listen to the men play drums while the females danced. The highlight of the people’s year was when they celebrated their festival. They watched as the chief priest performed various strange acts while the best drummers played to urge him on. After the festival he chose the most handsome looking young boy in the village to be taught by him and train him as a future priest. This year, rather surprisingly the gods had chosen who the villagers agreed was the most unintelligent child. Kenakrom’s richest family was the Nyarko-Ansah family. The Nyarko-Ansah family was not only the richest but the largest, and more than half of the people of this small village traced their lineage to this family’s ancestry. The village kingmakers came from that family, ...
