Having more is not a guarantee that you would do much better.Lots of people have convinced themselves that the reason they are at a certain place or position in life is because of the size of what they possess. Some women believe their boyfriend would not have left them if they had much bigger breasts, wider hips, were much better dancers, were less vocal etc. Some men believe they would have won that woman if they had more money,a bigger car, more muscles.. The point is you can convince yourself that you are not better suited because your toes are more crooked than the one who took your boyfriend but later you would realise the person simply left because he was an idiot. Granted,to whom much is given, much more is expected, but your mistake would be to calculate your harvest by measuring it to someone else's seed. You are qualified enough, pretty enough, intelligent enough to succeed. You just have to begin. In this Newyear, cast off every weight that pulls you back as the bible says,a...

A FAMILY AFFAIR

KenaKrom was a small fishing village, which lacked any vibrant form of modern entertainment, the old folks were left to telling stories to their grandchildren at sunset to keep them entertained. The young adults gathered in the town square to listen to the men play drums while the females danced. The highlight of the people’s year was when they celebrated their festival. They watched as the chief priest performed various strange acts while the best drummers played to urge him on. After the festival he chose the most handsome looking young boy in the village to be taught by him and train him as a future priest. This year, rather surprisingly the gods had chosen who the villagers agreed was the most unintelligent child. Kenakrom’s richest family was the Nyarko-Ansah family. The Nyarko-Ansah family was not only the richest but the largest, and more than half of the people of this small village traced their lineage to this family’s ancestry. The village kingmakers came from that family, ...

The nobody you should know

Many of the worlds greatest people did not just get to where they are by a sudden leap.Infact more than half of the people you know, admire and en vision yourself to be are probably people you had no idea existed a few years back. Greatness doesn't just spring up.Most often it takes years of hard work, toil, struggle, discipline and a lot of secret tears that nobody but God would probably ever get to know. So before you write yourself off quickly, before you give up on those dreams etched deep in your soul, and before you convince yourself you will never amount to much in the field you desire to be established in,remember this:that great person you aspire to be,was once a nobody that you do know now. Take it one day at a time,go through the process, and before you know it,you will be the once nobody every one knows.

Sometimes the greatest hindrance to our progress is our knowledge.what we have learnt in and about life. We have had a dog(a boerboel) in our house for the past year or so.And I have always been terribly afraid of this dog, even more than stray dogs on the street.so much so that, anytime its unchained,it has to be put in its cage before I enter the house.Yet this dog came to meet me on earth and in the house! Yesterday I came home to find it lying down quietly.supposing it was chained I walked freely inside.Only to find out later its chain was broken!. Not knowing that it was unchained had allowed me to advance. The law of aerodynamics states that the bumblebee must not be able to fly as it does not have the required capacity in terms of wing area or flapping speed.Yet guess what, the bumblebee proves that science can be known to be in error. The bumblebee flies! why?it has no knowledge of what is to be its challenges and limitations. Its time to unlearn what we ha...

Getting to the Light

To get to a point, one must go through a process. If I have dreams of being a doctor, but have never stepped foot in medical school, to acquire knowledge to distinguish simply between paracetamol and multivitamin, even if I get all my family to call me doctor, it would not be enough for you to trust me with your life by asking me to operate on you. I can call myself Caterer all I want, but if I don't go through the process of knowing how to cook, knowing the difference between flour and baking powder, you won't be paying me to bake your wedding cake. The end result is glorious, all see and admire it.But usually the process tends to be lonely and not easy at all.but it is necessary to get to where you desire to be. God has a point He wants you to get to,but trust Him to take you through a process. And until you go through that process, He's not graduating you.Like a boxing bout, you are not getting the title until you step into the ring (process).Ofcourse that includes subm...

CONFESSIONS

"Im here to see Father Braimah. "Could you please state your mission? " "To confess a fault"      Mensa felt he had to correct her, tell her it was 'sin', but one look into her eyes and he scuttled away to call Father. She had the coldest eyes he had ever seen. Which contrasted sharply to the softness of her face. Hers was one of those faces you never forgot. Radiant skin, flawlessly unspotted face. He had only seen such faces on the television in Aunt Dzifas shop when he was sent to buy something. Television sets were considered frivolous equipments in the parish. There was none to be found there. Compared to most of the women in Kofikrom where he was born and lived before coming to the city, to serve as altar boy in St Margaret Mary's Catholic Church.  Her face looked like God had taken extra care to carve out its details. When she realized Mensa was staring at her, she smiled. An easy smile that could disarm a serial killer and bring him on h...

A play   wake- keeping grounds.      Sober mood, with people crying quietly       Maame Kyerewaa bursts in, waving a white handkerchief, singing loudly 'So so wonders Jesus dey do' Papa Kyei's head suddenly shoots up, wondering if someone had entered his compound mistakenly 'Hai, has she gone mad'?, Some women whisper among themselves .Sarfoaa, whose son has been laid in state cries even louder and her sisters try to calm her . Maame Kyerewaa is approached by the Abusuapanyin(family head); Maame, gyai(stop), your rival has lost her child.  “Oh really?
