A few days ago whilst talking to a very special friend and teasing him about how he doesn't seem to 'remember' me when his money comes, he suddenly said; 'okay say what you want, but tread cautiously because if it is not within my budget, you would not get anything at all'
I started laughing because I felt like a beautiful trap had been set for me and i could not figure out how to navigate my way around it. Well I was unable to mention anything I wanted. I still haven't been able to.
Imagine getting an endorsed cheque, yet blank, from someone with large financial resources and the person asking you to write whatever amount you desired. The only catch is that you should have faith that the person has enough in their account to grant what you write. Yet, you are plagued with the question:'what if I get to the bank and it bounces?'
I write these blogs not because I'm always in a perpetual hopeful mood. There are days that I sincerely worry about how something is going to turn out, whether certain things I would really love to see manifest would materialize etc etc. I write these blogs because notwithstanding what mood i am in or how anxious I may be about a certain situation, I sincerely believe in the power of hope, rooted in an Almighty God and so I know that 1) Good things will happen and 2) He is able to make things work out for our good,as bad as it may be; and I really do believe it inspires you to keep believing and hoping even as i do.
A young black man grew up believing he was going to be president of what is arguably the greatest country in the world. He knew the odds and decided to defy it and wrote a book: The Audacity of Hope.
The Bible, which is probably one of the major influential books in existence now, has records of various individuals taking what is considered by some people as 'very wild steps', in pursuit of their faith. So much so that some believe they are unrealistic, conjured stories: at best a very well crafted fictional story or figments of imagination. But as the Bible says to them that believe, they received..
What would you ask for if you were certain it would be granted you and there was absolutely no way of refusal? Why not take a dare..

A good read. Am going to take a dare
ReplyDeleteTake a big one!
DeleteIt's good to take a dare, but at other times a calculated step saves a life.
ReplyDeleteAfter calculating the step, when you find it worthy, don't be afraid to take the step. That is what this post is positing.
